It’s Back and Better Than Ever – MFG Day 2020 Goes Virtual! Launched annually on the first Friday in October with events that continue throughout the month, MFG Day helps showcase the appeal of modern manufacturing careers. The initiative encourages thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to teach students, parents, teachers and community leaders about all the inner workings of the industry. MFG Day also empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive. Across the nation, MFG Day 2020 will look very different from previous years. Macomb County, along with its educational partners, will be holding a MFG Week from Monday, September 28 through Friday, October 2, 2020. Ten companies will be able to showcase their facility virtually and will hold a Zoom meeting for students to watch live or throughout the week. An example of a day: Students will log into a secure Zoom meeting and see live presentations from our Gold Level sponsors. They will also be able to “break away” from the live presentation and explore facilities in a 3D virtual experience (by MatterPort). Live presentations will be rolled out over the week and the library of career content will grow steadily over the five days. These videos will be available for students and parents to access from home. Virtual exhibit booths will also be available for Silver Level sponsors to answer questions and showcase their businesses. MFG Day 2020 Does Not Stop There… Because it is web-based, the content will live on for students to hear about the great opportunities in manufacturing careers all year long! Teachers, counselors and parents can also use the site as a resource to open dialogue with students looking for exciting, great-paying jobs. Your participation is vital to the overall outcome and excitement of this event. Together we can reach a much larger group of students by doing a virtual MFG Week this year, and keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you’d like to participate in any of the three ways below, please contact Janelle Arbuckle-Michael at Janelle.arbuckle@macombgov.org. Deadline for signing up to sponsor is August 14th and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
